This is a fascinating article, and so topical right now.
As a pro-vaxxer, pro-masker, I’m struggling with the amount of false health information that’s pervading the internet right now.
But every time I get angry, I’m then pushed down the rabbit hole of, “But isn’t this what free speech is about?”
How do we ensure we get both sides of the argument in an unbiased / truthful way?
I appreciate there are some anti-vaxxers out there who take time to research, share the ingredients in vaccines and explain why they think those ingredients are not appropriate for the human body.
The vast majority, however, seem to share memes about witches’ potions and are unwilling to enter into any kind of discussion.
I feel like there are two reasons that mean we must work to stem the flow of disinformation:
1. Research - we seem to have started believing everything we read, instead of researching it for ourselves.
2. Openness to debate - if we can at least have conversations with those who disagree, maybe we’ll help convince each other.
