Impressed to see an article on the therapeutic uses of diaphragmatic breathing / breath work in general.
I feel like because it’s associated to practices like yoga, breathing gets written off as ‘woo woo’ rather than medically helpful.
I love that this article is showing just how much research is out there that demonstrates not only that specific types of breathing can be therapeutic, but also that it’s possible to learn to breathe more effectively.
The 4-7-8 breathing has become a regular practice for me, in times of stress and anxiety, so I knew that ones psychological health and parasympathetic nervous system could benefit, but I’d not realised it was so effective for physiological conditions as well.
