Controversially, I feel like I trust myself enough to not fall for the more 'dangerous' aspects of social media. For me, social media has always been psychologically manipulative - just like the print media, TV news, product packaging and so on.
I wonder if the filmmakers' intention was simply to educate and let us make our own decisions about actions to take going forward.
We do, after all, as consumers, have free will.
Where it gets sinister for me is that social media is manipulating vulnerable members of society who DON'T realise they're constantly being psychologically drawn in. They're also probably so vulnerable - due to age, mental health etc - that they're not going to watch 'The Social Dilemma'. This film is likely preaching to the converted to some extent: we all know it's a problem, and yet the majority of us make no personal decisions to change our social media habits.
